She was a performer as well as a designer, and music pioneer. Her ethnicity was Mexican American, however she was she was also a traditional. She was the first to bring Tejano into mainstream music. Much like of a brilliant and charming star dies way too soon, her untimely demise has thrown her profile into a quagmire. A lot of mourners reacted to her potential, which was untapped. The tragic death by shooting of Tejano singer Selena has triggered a response in the Latino community that can be compared to the reactions to the deaths of Elvis Presley and John Lennon. The singer was extremely popular throughout Latino communities across North America her music crossed cultural boundaries to touch the lives of children as well as old. Selena is an edgy sexually attractive performer who is sometimes described as Latina Madonna. She's also considered a role model to be reckoned with because she is offstage and has a family-oriented attitude and actively participates in anti-drug programs.
